Kawartha Lakes, formerly Lindsay was formed in 2001 by the merger of the former town of Lindsay and the other communities constituting what until the amalgamation had been Victoria county. It was named for the Kawartha Lakes, a chain of lakes in the region.
The communities that make up our region are connected not only by the Trent-Severn Waterway, but also by a sense of pride, community, and attachment to this beautiful area of the province.
With more than 250 lakes, dozens of charming towns, and over 600 kms of trails, we offer an abundance of year-round activities. Spend the day on the water with some of the best freshwater fishing in the world, find one-of-a-kind gifts exploring the Kawartha Lakes Arts & Heritage Trail, or plan a farm-to-table date night at one of the local restaurants gracing our downtown areas.
To complement the local arts and culture events, the region is also home to a flourishing craft beverage scene made up of unique breweries and distilleries. Grab a bottle with friends after you take in a local show or wind down by the lake.
With trails, parks, and beaches just down the street from shopping and schools, people of all ages are jumping into the Kawartha Lakes lifestyle.
